Many people walk right past the doors of Laserium MedSpa because they believe such cosmetic treatments are extremely expensive and financially out of reach.
Kira Gill, owner of the MedSpa says, “Stop! Turn around and come back, because the treatments are reasonably priced, which makes them available to most people who want to remove hair, clear up acne, diminish wrinkles or get rid of extra fat.”
“We do free consultations,” Gill said. “People don’t have to pay anything to get information. We educate our patients before they can get a treatment.”
She says most of the treatments require several sittings before the optimum results can be seen.
“I give the first three at a very low price. I don’t want them to spend $500 up front and see how it goes. It has been our strong point to let them know what is good for them and what we can do to help them get to where they want to be.”
She says she is interested in how somebody can look better. “We don’t do magic, but we finally get them where they want to be. You should look your age, but look good at your age. You should look relaxed. With injectables, you have to be careful. You don’t want your eyebrows raised so you look surprised all the time.”
Laserium MedSpa opened in Prescott at the Gateway Mall at the end of August.
“Business is good and coming up now,” she said. “We have a lot of walk-in business and exposure.”
Kristy Snyder has been a client since Gill opened in Prescott.
Snyder said people who live in Arizona struggle with dryness and sun when it comes to their skin.
“I think Kira is an expert in her field and she talks the talk and she knows what she is doing,” Snyder said.
She says each lypo laser treatment has removed a half-inch from her body and she sees a difference after her micro-abrasion treatments, too.
“If I continue these treatments, I will look younger,” she said.
Gill has had extensive experience with lasers over the years. “I have given treatment with lasers for so long that I can give better results than anywhere else with the same laser,” she said. “I treat anyone. I can work with the customer on prices and payments so the treatments are in reach of the average woman or man.”
Gill started her business with hair removal and then expanded into other treatments, with offices in Canada, Vancouver, Washington and Dallas. She received her training in Naples, Florida, and now has a program approved and certified for training others in laser use. Also, she has hired a doctor as medical director and a nurse to administer the injectables.
Gill grew up and went to school in Punjab, India. She married her husband in 1995 and moved to live with him in Canada. The couple is in Prescott now because their daughter is enrolled in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
“She is going to be an astronaut,” said Gill.
They also have an 8th grader and an 11th grader at home.
“None of them want to live on campus. We are a tight knit family. We have always been there making sure they have everything they need. We want them to stay,” she said, “They have been a part of our business. They have helped in business. We don’t treat them as kids. We ask them, ‘What do you think? What can you bring to the table?’”
What advice do you have for someone who wants to start his or her own business?
“Keep going at it. Be passionate. Don’t expect things to fall in your lap right away.”
What is your greatest strength?
“It is perseverance. I am a person who when business knocks me down, I stand up again.”
What is your favorite food?
“I like our Indian food, of course, and I like Italian food and French food.”
Where do you like to travel?
“We plan to go to Europe. Also Italy, Tuscany.”
Do you have a favorite sport you like to watch or play?
“Basketball. The girls and I are black belts in Tae Kwon Do.”
