Those chosen were Ryan Peach, Prescott Male Youth of the Year; Joe Baynes, Prescott Man of the Year; Karin Ward, Prescott Woman of the Year; and Kateri Wrublik, Prescott Female Youth of the Year.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the PAL program to honor outstanding community leadership in the greater Prescott community. The winners were named during an awards program April 11 at the Prescott Resort.
Neal Sneller, the PAL board president, recognized the nominees by saying, “Each year, we recognize individuals who exemplify outstanding leadership through their contributions to our communities.”
Peach is a senior at Prescott High School and the senior class president.
Baynes is director of City of Prescott Parks and Recreation, long-time president of Prescott Little League, and chair of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arizona.
Ward is superintendent of Beaver Creek School in Rimrock, the 2011 recipient of the Arizona School Administrator Superintendent award, and is active with First Things First and Head Start.
Wrublik is a senior at Arizona Agribusiness and Equine School, a member of the Air Force ROTC Presentation Team and an honor student. She was named the 2017 Prescott Police Department Explorer of the Year.
Both Peach and Wrublik received $2,000 scholarships.
Others nominated for leader awards are as follows:
- Woman of the Year: Carole Benedict, executive director, U.S. Vets Prescott program; and Courtney Osterfelt, who organized the Launch Pad Teen Center.
