“We want our Quad Cities communities to show their support in every way possible for our beleaguered law enforcement officials,” Riley said.
For six years, she has owned and operated K9Synergy in Prescott Valley. One of her most recent efforts was in cooperation with Amanda Howard, a law enforcement officer in Phoenix, who sponsors her company called The Thin Blue Line Canines of Great Valor.
The two collaborated with the Prescott Valley Police Department and its K9 squad in a fundraiser to buy bulletproof vests for two police dogs. Assisted by donated support from Findlay Subaru-Prescott, the group gathered from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on a bright Sunday afternoon in the car lot, where they had several vendors conducting raffles, silent auctions and other activities.
In addition, the Prescott Valley K9 squad, which includes Jerry Ellison, Tim Creager, Tanner Persson and Keven O’Hagan, led several of their dogs through several vigorous training exercises wherein the dogs exhibited their discipline. For instance, on command, the officers, using voice and hand signals, had the dogs run, creep, circle, dance and, when directed, attack a heavily protected officer until told to stop.
The dogs also participated in exhibits showing their absolute obedience to discipline commands.
During the four-hour program, several hundred people participated. “We want our Quad Cities communities to show their support in every way possible for our beleaguered law enforcement officials,” Riley said.
The fundraising event brought in $2,000. “Each vest for a dog costs about $2,900, so we hoped to get enough money to buy two,” she said, adding that there will be similar events in the area as well. “It’s important that we help law enforcement officers in protecting these highly trained and well-disciplined dogs.”
Riley and her PV firm have for several years trained and rehabilitated dogs from throughout Central and Northern Arizona. QCBN
