Keith Lane, current Chief of Police for Haltom City, Texas, has agreed to become the next Prescott Valley Police Chief. Mr. Lane graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2004. He has served as Chief of Police in Haltom City, Texas since 2009 and previously served for 22 years in Keller, Texas. Group Rebuilding for Uninsured
Starting next week, the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group will begin to rebuild houses at no cost to the 11 uninsured primary homeowners who lost their homes in the Yarnell Hill Fire. Building Committee Chair Marco Cecala said work on foundations for two homes will begin next week, with construction on those homes to begin the week of Sept. 30. The House of Representatives has voted to pass the Restoring Healthy Forests for Healthy Communities Act (H.R. 1526), a forest health package that includes Rep. Gosar’s bipartisan wildfire legislation, the Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Act (H.R. 1345). The Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Act, which H.R. 1526 will implement, is aimed at preventing destructive wildfires and stimulating rural economies. Yarnell residents have announced their recovery efforts are underway. Groundbreaking happened this weekend with a celebration at the Yarnell Hill Fire Department Saturday afternoon. Make-A-Wish Arizona and the Prescott YMCA have come together to surprise wish kid Paula Pratt, 12, with a year membership for her and her family for the YMCA. Paula, who was diagnosed at 18 months with a life-threatening seizure disorder, had brain surgery in 2012 but is moving forward in her care, thanks in part to her love of the water.
