The average weekly wage for workers in the county stands at $993, offering competitive earnings within the region.
The county’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.3% in October, a 0.4% decrease from the same time last year and a 0.1% decrease from the previous month. Notably, Yavapai County’s unemployment rate is lower than Arizona’s statewide average of 3.6%, underscoring the county’s strong labor market and economic stability.
The latest employment data reveals growth across a range of industries, with all super sectors expected to see further expansion through 2033. Notably, no industry is projected to experience significant job losses during this period, according to OEO projections. Government jobs led year-over-year growth, adding 800 positions – a 7% increase. Federal government employment grew by 100 jobs, a 5.3% rise, while state and local government roles expanded significantly with 700 new positions, representing a 7.3% increase.
In 2024 the private sector saw moderate gains, adding 600 jobs, a 1% increase overall. Key highlights include goods-producing industries, which expanded by 300 jobs, a 2.8% rise. Within this category, mining and construction added 200 jobs, a 2.8% increase, and manufacturing increased by 100 jobs, also a 2.8% gain. Service-producing industries grew by 1,100 jobs, a 1.8% increase. Trade, transportation and utilities added 300 jobs, a 2.2% increase, while private education and health services expanded by 200 jobs, a 1.6% rise.
While most sectors posted gains, a few remained stable or experienced minor declines. Information and financial activities recorded no year-over-year growth, while professional and business services lost 200 jobs, a 3.1% decrease, and leisure and hospitality saw a decline of 100 jobs, or 1%. Some decreases in supply industries but despite these challenges, the overall employment outlook remains strong.
Looking ahead, OEO projections paint an optimistic picture for Yavapai County’s economy. Between now and 2033, every super sector is expected to experience growth, with no substantial losses anticipated. This broad-based expansion highlights the county’s potential for sustainable economic development and workforce stability.
