Members of the public who would like to use Yavapai College’s fitness center and pool facilities on the Prescott campus will be able to buy passes to use these two facilities beginning May 12 instead of having to enroll in a physical education class.
Day, month and annual passes are now on sale at the business office in Building 1 on the Prescott campus, 1100 E. Sheldon St. Single adult passes for the fitness center or the pool are $5 a day, $25 a month or $250 a year; combo passes for both the fitness center and the pool are $8 a day, $40 a month or $350 a year. Separate rate structures for children, current YC students, YC faculty and staff are available.
Through the current semester, which ends May 5, individuals had to enroll in a class in order to use the fitness center and/or pool facilities. General PHE130A courses will still be offered, but structured differently starting with the 2014 fall semester. Students will be required to attend mandatory dates. These dates will include a mandatory orientation, five week follow-up assessment, 10 week follow-up assessment and an end-of-year assessment. Students will be required to perform pre and post assessments, needs and goals, and follow-up assessments. The restructured PHE130A classes are designed for students who want personalized workout plans with specific educational, health and knowledge outcomes.
PHE130A courses cost $72 per semester hour, and most of these courses are 1 credit hour. Open enrollment for the fall 2014 semester is now open. Students must register and enroll online via the college web site, www.yc.edu. Anyone needing help with the process can visit the Answer Center on the Prescott campus for in-person assistance.
