I’m a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, student and not-so-great housekeeper. I’m also a trustworthy friend, passionate about God, and a strong leader. I am a culinary specialist and have a passion for nature. Balancing the roles and responsibilities of marriage, motherhood and business can be overwhelming. I continue to seek out those who share practical tips and tools so that I can experience more wellness and balance and be better able to love and lead those around me.
I have loved sharing with fellow moms, friends and mentors of how to gain insight on all of these roles. I definitely cannot say I am someone who has it all figured out. I share encouragement with my friends, community and clients about life’s joys and challenges. My journey has been to gain as much knowledge as possible to balance wellness and balance in my life.
Here are some simple tips that can assist you with staying healthy, balanced and well:
- Get your water in. Dehydration causes people to think they are hungry, when what their body is really craving is water. Plus, water makes you feel full so you aren’t taking in unnecessary calories. Dehydration also makes you feel tired. Performance, whether it is work or physical fitness, diminishes.
- Drink herbal teas. I have learned the power of herbs and all the amazing healing properties they have.
- Eat regularly, which includes snacking. The phenomena known as being “hangry” (angry because you are hungry) is a REAL thing!
- Try healthy snacks like cheese sticks, fruits and nut packages. Be careful not to overindulge. Small portions are best.
- Set aside time to plan your meals for the week.
- Prep and cook veggies in advance.
- Make homemade bars and snacks for the kids to grab on the go.
- Creating time for meal planning and prep makes busy weeks much more manageable.
- Sit down and plan your workouts. Make them appointments you don’t skip.
- Plan to meet friends at a class, hike or run. Make your workouts social – getting in valuable friend time and built in accountability.
- Enroll in a dance or yoga class.
- Schedule a monthly massage or facial.
- Set aside time to fill yourself back up. You are no good to the people who need you if you are running on empty.
- Find out what fills you up and make it happen!
