It’s that time of year again. Blossoms blossoming, trees are turning green, the air is warmer, people are stirring in their yards and sprucing up their homes. It’s a time for renewal, for starting something new, getting a fresh perspective on many levels. Spring is a time of resurgence of energy, new ideas and good, old-fashioned elbow grease.
I love seeing folks on the street working on their homes, renovating, painting, planting and then taking the time to chat with their next-door neighbor about the beautiful weather. There is something about the sights, sounds and smells of spring that just make you want to get out and “do” things.
With that in mind, I felt like talking a little about the upcoming YCCA Home and Garden Show. Prescott Maid to Order participates every year at the show, and for good reason. Not only is it a good business move, it is an opportunity for us to connect with the people that we service on a regular basis, yet as a management, don’t really get to visit with very often. Our very valued customers come up and tell us about how things are going in their life, how their grandkids are, and how we can maybe help them in additional ways. We make new friends and we connect with fellow business owners. For businesses that really care about the people they serve, the opportunity to see them in person instead of just on the phone and get to know them on a more personal level is invaluable.
We stand at the edge of the booth and greet people as they go by. Often as couples go by and look at what we offer, the husband will nod and then point at the wife and say in passing “I’m her window washer” then she’ll look back and reply, “Yeah, but I’m the maid.” It makes for a nice giggle on both of our parts. I enjoy watching as Vietnam era, Desert Storm era and even WWII era veterans pass by, and when possible, I take the opportunity to thank them for their service. I enjoyed chatting with a man who had served in WWII as he relayed a story or two. What a great experience to meet our diverse public and learn about one another.
This year, the show is May 18, 19 and 20, and, yup, we’ll be there. Joining me will be April the office manager, Gracie, our supervisor, and Jann, the sales and marketing manager, will be manning the booth, petting the dogs as they go by and doing our best to answer questions and just enjoy the people of this strongly knit community.
If some projects are on your list this spring and summer, or you just want to get out and see what’s cookin’ in your community, come on out and see us. We look forward to meeting as many people as we can in a short few days. We look forward to it every year and this year is no exception. Can’t wait to see you! QCBN
