As a caterer and culinary specialist, we take the time to plan out menus on a weekly and monthly basis. We have catering menus that show our offerings. But what happens when it’s the end of the day, the kitchen closes and you are hungry? Believe it or not, that happens far more often than one could imagine.
Every day, I am surrounded with amazing fresh food in our commercial kitchen. My husband, Richard, reminds me to place an order for a family meal to take home.
Wouldn’t it be great to bring home a freshly prepared meal, throw it in the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes, the house fills with yummy essence and, voila, it’s dinner!
At the present time, we have several families for which we prepare food. Our goal is to have the fresh, prepared meals available for ordering and pickup before the holiday season.
Until then, might I suggest the following helpful tips for preparing meals in advance:
Start with inventorying your freezer and pantry. Why spend more money when you have great food already in the house? In the beginning phase, I suggest planning three meals at a time. This gives you plenty of food and leftovers for lunch or snacking. You can do a lot in a 30-minute block of time.
Follow recipes or be creative – recipes are just a click or a page away. Let’s say you have chicken and sweet potatoes. Google a recipe with those ingredients and you will find some savory and delicious meals that can be prepared in an hour or less.
Food containers are so important. I use glass cookware for prepared foods so that the food can be heated in the oven. Ziploc bags are also a great way to store chopped veggies.
Saving time and money, and reducing stress are all gifts to add to your lifestyle.
All of us at Goods from the Garden and The Natural Healing Garden encourage Healthy Food/Healthy Living.
Please enjoy the following recipe for Greek Nachos. Double the protein amount and have enough left over for tacos and burritos.
Enjoy! QCBN
