Southwest Fine Art Printmakers will be highlighted at the Mountain Artists’ Spotlight Gallery Room later this month. The exhibit is called ‘Ink Spots and Impression – A Show of Diverse Forms of Fine Art Printmaking.’
The invitational juried show is the first of its kind, and is being curated by Donna Carver. The idea for this show came about from the fact that there seems to be a great misunderstanding as to what exactly is Fine Art Printmaking and a Fine Art Print. There are always questions asked such as, “Are these original works of art”? The answer is YES. Each piece is an Original work of Fine Art.
Fine Art Printmaking dates back to the 1500. Some of the old masters include such artists as Rembrandt, Hokusai, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Paul Gauguin to name a few.
The fact is that Fine Art Printmaking has many forms and processes.
This show will be featuring many of the diverse forms of Fine Art Printmaking by these seven well know and highly collected Southwest Fine Art Printmakers: Christina Altfeld and Karen L. Brown from California; Donna Carver originally of California now a Prescott Artist; Dana Cohn hales from NY City, NY and now resides here in Prescott, Carol Darling who just moved here from San Antonio, Texas , Robin Lieske, and Cindi Shaffer of Prescott.
The show will feature the following diverse forms of Fine Art Printmaking: Acid Etching; Aquatint; Chollograph; Drypoint Etching; Fine Art Printmaking incorporated into Glass; Lithography; Painting Monotype; Monotype Chine Colle’; Relief/Linocut/Chine Colle’/handpainting works; and Solar Etchings. In order to help the viewers develop a more in-depth knowledge of this art form this show is including an educational component. A description of the each Fine Art Printmaking Process will accompany the works of Fine Art.
The Artists will also be present at the Opening Reception which is on April 25th from 5-7:30 pm to meet and greet the public.
