Color, Cut and Cheer at Sunflower Hair

January 28, 2024 By quadcities Leave a Comment

“We work hard to avoid drama. This is everyone’s happy place.”

In the heart of Prescott Valley, Sunflower Hair, nestled within the confines of a quaint, sunlit yellow cottage, beckons patrons to experience the mastery of seasoned hairdressers Annie Cain and Elizabeth Ashe. Each boasting more than four decades of hairstyling expertise, the dynamic duo has seamlessly collaborated for 11 years, culminating in the establishment of Sunflower Hair on Nov. 1.

Formerly with Shear Factor Salon, Cain and Ashe decided to embark on their entrepreneurial journey, driven by a shared commitment to exceptional hair care. With a clientele that spans all genders, Sunflower Hair endeavors to provide a haven of cheerfulness, where clients find solace in the skilled hands of these veteran stylists.

The vibrant yellow cottage, symbolic of the salon’s jovial ethos, has become synonymous with happiness for its returning patrons. Ashe articulates their philosophy, stating, “We work hard to avoid drama. This is everyone’s happy place.” Eschewing the chaotic ambiance that can often accompany the hairstyling industry, Sunflower Hair thrives on the principles of tranquility and customer satisfaction.

For Ashe, the venture into entrepreneurship was an unforeseen but welcome trajectory. “If you need to work, you might as well be happy and doing something fun,” she said. The rapport between Cain and Ashe, marked by their laid-back demeanor and warm hospitality, creates an inviting atmosphere for clients seeking not only a haircut but an enjoyable experience.

Ashe emphasizes the salon’s commitment to customer preferences, explaining, “We give them what they want, not what we want.” Listening attentively to each client’s desires is the cornerstone of Sunflower Hair’s success, fostering a loyal following and a supportive community that considers the cottage their haven of beauty.

Diversifying their offerings, Cain and Ashe cater to an array of hairstyles, encouraging clients to bring in photos for precise articulation of their preferences. Reflecting on their individual journeys into hairstyling, Cain’s early foray into cutting hair contrasted with Ashe’s pragmatic decision to enter the profession in 1980, a choice she has embraced ever since.
