The Prescott National Forest will waive day-use fees in celebration of National Get Outdoors Day onJune 14. As part of this nationwide event fees will be waived at the following sites:
- Lynx Lake Recreation Area: North Shore, South Shore and Lynx Creek Ruin
- Granite Basin Recreation Area: Cayuse, Wekuvde, Boat Launch, Playa, and Metate
- Thumb Butte Recreation Area
- Alto Pit OHV Recreation Area: Day Use Site
- Mingus Day Use
- Mingus Lake Day Use
This year’s remaining fee waiver dates are:
- June 14, 2014 – National Get Outdoors Day features activities and events designed to welcome first-time visitors. For more information, go to: http://www.nationalgetoutdoorsday.org/
- September 27, 2014 – National Public Lands Day is the largest one-day volunteer service event in the nation. For more information, go to: http://www.publiclandsday.org/
- November 8–11, 2014 – Veterans Day Weekend to honor our nation’s veterans
Although the Prescott NF is in Stage II Fire Restrictions, there are many activities that can still be enjoyed, such as picnicking, hiking, mountain biking and camping. All the campgrounds, picnic areas and trails are open, but visitors cannot build campfires or use a wood, charcoal or coal stove, or discharge firearms.
