What do Arizonans want for the future economy?
Residents of Yavapai County are making their voices heard as they participate in Arizona Town Hall-sponsored community forums.
Community forums focusing on Arizona’s economic future are collecting data from around the state. In Yavapai County, residents may participate from noon to 1:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, March 17, in the Hangar Room at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott.
“We already know we want high-paying jobs, an influx of outside income and a high quality of life we all can enjoy,” said Arizona Town Hall President Tara Jackson. “The question we want citizens to discuss is, ‘How do we get there?’”
Community members are being asked to share their opinions about five areas that impact the state’s future economy. They are: enhancing education and workforce development; maintaining and expanding infrastructure; coordinating efforts statewide to promote travel and tourism; generating fiscal support for local businesses; and establishing Arizona as a welcoming, culturally diverse state in a global economy.
Participants also will hear recommendations from the recent 105th Arizona Town Hall, which focuses on a means to achieve economic improvement, Jackson said.
Participants then will be asked to “localize and expand those recommendations” appropriate to their communities.
The collected opinions will then be integrated into a formal report merged with forums from other communities in Arizona. That report then will be shared with local, regional and state business, corporate, educational and political leaders and policy makers “…to demonstrate that the collective thinking and knowledge of citizens from throughout Arizona has merit,” Jackson said.
