Now in its second year, the 2014 SaveArt! initiative sponsored by the Prescott SpringHill Suites is in full swing. SpringHill Suites has partnered with Miller Valley Elementary School for the second year, along with cooperation with our brand partner, Fresh Artists, a vibrant non-profit organization that supports art education in under-funded local public schools across the country. Art education has a tremendous impact on the developmental growth and academic success of children and many schools are facing severe budget cuts that minimize or eliminate their art programs. Our inaugural launch in 2013 was such a success and we look forward to an even more successful Save Art! campaign in 2014. Local residents and out of town visitors have an opportunity to join us to help donate needed art supplies to underserved local public schools.
It’s easy to become involved! Simply stop by the front desk at SpringHill Suites at 200 East Sheldon in downtown Prescott. Give your donation to one of the front desk team members and you will receive a Paint Splotch Donation Sticker color coded according to your donation. Stickers start in increments as low as $2! Your name will be written on the sticker then placed on the Save Art! banner. “Last year we raised $250,” said JL Jernegan, SpringHill Suites general manager. This year, our goal is $1,000 and as of mid-November we were about halfway there. Donations received will be used to purchase high quality art supplies for Miller Valley Elementary School. Fresh Artists will ship the art supplies directly to SpringHill Suites, then a delivery date will be scheduled for Miller Valley during Valentines Week (Feb. 8-14, 2015). In addition to monetary donations, SpringHill Suites is also collecting new art supplies from donors. A donation bin is available at the front desk of SpringHIll Suites for those who wish to contribute.
SpringHill Suites has enjoyed being involved in a number of Marriott art initiatives over the years. Every October for the past four years, SpringHill Suites has partnered with Mountain Artists Guild to host the ArtNight kick-off reception for the Annual Mountain Artists Guild Studio Tour. In 2015, SpringHill Suites will host a second annual reception for One Man’s Treasure, an art auction that supports the mission of Prescott Creeks. Throughout the year, SpringHill Suites is a supporter and advocate of performing and visual arts, knowing that a thriving arts community provides a landscape for cultural tourism as well as quality of life benefits for all residents.
